announces a stunning test outcome on the RED GULL
treatment, in their newest edition coming out 26.10.2011
Early January, the German Yacht magazine tested our PRO-2 Sail Regeneration on it's technical qualities. A set of used sails was exactly measured before treatment, every single pollution was put precisely into map, irregularities in the fabrics structure, like plies in the different corners of the sails were registered. After treatment the whole process was carried out again, with the promised out come: Profile depth was ameliorated by 45 %, the deepest point of this 28 ft boat's sail had gone back to the front where it belonged by 25 cm. The sails plies had disappeared and the whole structure went nice and cracky almost like new, the sails new hydrophobic properties were considered impressive.
How would the treated sail behave in real on-board life?
The
big question for the testers was, how would the sail behave onboard.
Would it loose the newly gained profile with the first pull on the
sheets? Would it really keep up the new crackyness? Would the
protective functions survive a season? Would there be any noticeable
difference in the boats sailing behaviour? Questions on questions.
Well, the sail got measured and inspected, after one season of regular
sailing, for a third time.
Once more, the outcome was stunning for the testers
We
will not go into details, since the test will only be published in
close future, but we can tell you that the excellent outcome is
precisely what most sail makers, not familiar to the treatment,
doubt:
It works, it lasts, it raises performance and it's preserves your sails

sailing, having seen everything, can still be amazed . The "Zeilen" magazine journalists have been the first ones to take the sailcloth before and after treatment to the microscope. What they saw at 200x magnification after the treatment made them write there is no doubt that there is talk of a recovery of the fabric structure. Also they measured similar values in profile regeneration as the German "Yacht " magazine earlier this year...some specialists will continue to hope on coincidence.
The "Zeilen" facit: "With triple the price of sail cleaning, but a fraction of the price of new sails, the RED GULL PRO-2 Sail Regeneration seems to be a good option for the average cruiser"....even though we treated already plenty of dacron sails for racing.
